Voluneer Needed

ATTENTION: The Lotus Centre is currently seeking a volunteer to work for a minimum time of around 8 months, beginning anytime from May 2006. This is to replace an existing volunteer who will be leaving in June. Duties will include: communications, public relations and computer work; day to day tasks to keep smooth running of the centre; showing visitors around the centre; interaction with the children etc. The volunteer will have to be flexible and willing to do any tasks required, as well as to live on sight and work on call, outside of normal working hours. A small room and basic food will be provided.

Sewing for sale

One of the Lotus teenagers, Enkhtuya, has been training in sewing, and is now producing sewing products of very high quality. She would now like to sell her products, including quilts, pillowcases and bags, so that she can put the money into her bank account and save for when she begins to make her independent life.

Here is a photos are of one of her quilts, including a close up, and of her with one of her bags. Different colours, and sizes are available.

Seeking a sponsor

We are looking for a sponsor for one of our children, Uujimbuural, who has been living at the Lotus Centre since he was a young boy. When he came to Lotus, he was a very thin and small and couldn't walk properly. Now He is 14 and suffers from very bad epilepsy. We need a sponsor who can help with his medical treatment and purchase of his medicine, which costs us around $50US per month.

Without his medicine, he will have very serious seizures.

Useful items for Lotus

The Lotus Centre is currently in need of a few useful items.

We are now being required to provide a lot of documentation to the government authorities, which is very time consuming and difficult without the right technology. We are looking for a new laptop computer with a CD burner. Our current computer is very old and about to break down. We are also looking for black and colour ink cartridges for a HP psc 1281 inkjet printer.

We could also use a set of outdoor speakers, to play music out of door and for performances.
