In 1993 Didi Kalika, an Australian yoga teacher living in UB was moved by the plight of the children living on the streets and founded the Lotus Children's center. She started simply by giving food and basic medical care, and soon realized that serious change was nessessary to make real impact. INTRODUCTION TO LOTUS | The Lotus Children’s Centre is a Mongolian non-profit, non-government organization working with vulnerable children and families to provide the basic human rights of shelter, food and education. We care for up to 150 abused, orphaned and abandoned children.
Initially set up to provide basic needs for survival for just a handful of children in one apartment, Lotus has developed a kindergarten and a primary school to provide educational foundation, and is developing vocational pathways for employment opportunities.
We are entirely dependent on our generous donors as we receive zero financial support from Mongolian authorities. |
